Water damage can leave behind musty, damp, sewage, or stagnant odors when moisture remains in drywall, flooring, insulation, or other porous materials.
What the Job Involves
The affected area is inspected to locate the source of the odor and identify materials holding moisture or contaminants. Cleaning, drying, deodorizing, and material removal are used when necessary.
Signs You Need It
- Musty or damp smells
- Sewage odors after a backup
- Persistent odors after water extraction
- Wet carpet or padding
- Damp drywall or insulation
- Odors returning after cleaning
How the Work Goes
The odor source is identified first rather than simply masking the smell. Moisture levels are checked, affected materials are cleaned or removed as needed, and professional drying equipment is used. Deodorizing treatments may then be applied to remaining materials.
What Affects the Cost
Cost depends on the odor source, affected area, contamination level, type of materials, and amount of cleaning or removal required. Hidden moisture and contaminated materials can require additional restoration work.
